- A hilarious perspective about autism. Love his type of humor and that he included a few pictures. This is not an educational book but one that is meant to make you smile.
- Michael is a very insightful writer. His sharing of life on the spectrum is very well done!
- My first review was a bit too off-the-wall silly, even for me, so I’d like to redo it in a more dignified manner. Although, I still feel the same when I read these pages Giddy.
'Funny, You Don’t Look Autistic!’ may read like a humorous biography, but there are some pretty useful and serious messages flowing through it for both professionals and laypersons to learn from. Michael is skilled in getting across the important nuances that make the difference between being scoffed at and being understood, accepted, and cared about. The latter is sorely needed, especially from parents, health professionals, and police. This is true of any marginalized community, but perhaps at times especially so of Auties, as some of us refer to ourselves, affectionately.
Speaking of myself, reading about autism from the professionals and even speaking with them, left me feeling miserable about myself. I did not understand their rather ignorant assumptions. The one who diagnosed me snarkily stated, “You people need to care a lot less.†Seriously? This world needs more people to care a lot more!
Michael has shown me, from his first post as Michael McCreary, Aspie Comic on Facebook, right up to today, that he cares, compassionately and meaningfully. I guess that’s why I want the whole world to hear what he has to say. He clearly loves and accepts all people.

Summary This book is about Michael. He is Canadian, a comedian, a brother, a playwright, a former improv student, and he is autistic. Throughout this book, Michael shares his story of growing up-and how things look from his side of the stage.
My Thoughts I enjoyed this book. I found it funny, heartwarming, and at times a little heart-breaking. Overall, it was a great mix of learning about life from Michael’s perspective with bits of wisdom and humor thrown in for both neurotypical and autistic alike. I would recommend this book for anyone who has ASD, or anyone that would like to learn a little more about what it is like to have autism. Oh, and anyone who wouldn’t mind a good laugh now and then!
