Run the Mile You're In Finding God in Every Step Ryan Hall 0025986354374 Books Reviews

  • As someone who follows running and American marathoners pretty closely, I was excited to check out Ryan Hall’s newest book. I was aware of Ryan’s faith and the major role it has played in his running, and even though I don’t consider myself very religious, I was curious to learn more about how he has incorporated faith into his workouts, racing, and mindset.

I loved the way each chapter highlights one element of the running life — identity, pain, belief, success, failure — and delves into perspective, lessons learned, and Ryan’s deep faith. If you are a Christian runner or simply interested in one of the best distance runners in the US and what makes him tick, then there are lessons to be learned here.
  • "Run the Mile you’re in is more than a book! It pertains to everyday life. Whether you’re a runner or not this book is for you!
I highly recommend this book. It’s one of those books that can really change your outlook on life. Ryan uses his personal experiences and shows you how God has a hand in every aspect in our life.
The book is divided up into 26 miles(chapters) and has a specific topic such as Positive Focus, Comparison and Consistency to name a few.
As a running coach this is a book I will have all my athletes read!
You won’t regret reading this book! "
  • Cleverly divided into 26 chapters, Ryan Hall’s fast-paced book Run the Mile You’re In inspires and motivates through stories of his incredible life as a student athlete and then professional runner. Woven throughout the expressive life stories you will find Bible verses that connect to the stories he tells about his life and running career.

If you’re not a runner, there’s inspiration in Hall’s amazing stories of listening to God for direction guidance. And if you are a runner you’ll be motivated by Hall‘s dedication to the mental and physical challenges that running can bring. One of the best quotes in the book is “comparison sucks the life out of what we are doing. We are all on a beautiful journey, so let us be thankful for every step, even if our journey looks different from someone else’s.”
  • Ryan Hall's Run the Mile You're In, is very inspirational, motivating, and spiritually inviting. To read about Ryan's journey from the beginning to end was very emotionally inviting. He not only invites you into his journey as a runner but as well as his spiritual life throughout the course of his career. His telling of how God moved mountains throughout the trials that come with running and running professionally. As godly man Ryan kept his faith strong. After reading Ryan's book, I was able to focus on the bigger picture for myself personally as a recreational runner who is about to take on her first full marathon. Overall to be able to read about one of America's fastest distance runner is enlightening, inspirational, motivating, and spiritually moving. Thank You Ryan for sharing your story.
  • What a great book! I couldn’t put it down. Each chapter is loaded with wisdom to apply to our lives. As a runner, I love the stories of Ryan’s races and training. It’s as if I was an insider on his training team. The lessons learned by faith are ones so many of people struggle with. Ryan gives us fresh thoughts that open our awareness to how God speaks to us in a still small voice when we are listening. Sometimes what God asks us to do doesn’t make sense to us but ends working out for our good and His glory.

Ryan, thank you for sharing your story. I’ve shared this book as a must have for my coaching clients and those interested in growing their faith, improving their mindset, and pursuing excellence in their calling/career.
  • “Once we cease to be impressed by the size of our challenges, our ability to overcome them grows exponentially.” This book dives into the meaning of effort, worth, and perseverance in a way that encourages us to continue with our eyes on Christ, while recognizing that our true purpose does not lie within ourselves and our accomplishments. I believe that this writing does a wonderful job of exploring God’s purpose for us and helping to recognize it, sacrifice for it, and focus on it so that we can reach our fullest potential.
  • I am totally guilty of focusing on what God is not doing rather than focusing on what he is doing. Run The Mile You’re In is a book filled with little nuggets of wisdom and insight that you can chew on and reflect upon. It’s a book on running the race that really matters and is a book of encouragement and inspiration for a dry and weary soul. The words Ryan penned have challenged my perspective and the way I think- be ready to be challenged yourself!
  • I am so thankful for Running the Mile You’re In Finding God in every step. I couldn't put it down and read it in a day. It was good to be reminded every thing is worship if in a posture toward God. Also, the importance of consistent time in the Word and listening prayer. I have multiple callings pulling me in all directions grandchildcare, psychologist and volunteer missionary to Africa. I also enjoyed the details of Ryan’s training and races because I run for fitness with the Galloway method I’m planning to complete a 25k on the 40th anniversary of the first time I ran it. All these activities seem to take me in competing directions, but if I follow Ryan’s example I can let God be the coach of time and energy management and lift it all in worship to my Lord.
